A sight for a sore...elbow

On Saturday Dr.P, Mad Mikey-V, and I hit Fountainhead for an early morning ride. The three of us live in the same neighborhood and we've decided that we would make it a point to have at least one regular early morning ride each weekend. This way we can be finished by noon and be home to salvage (from the point of view of our spouses) the bulk of the day for the family. The only problem with the early weekend ride (8:00 am) is that it limits the night time activity the night before or bear the consequences as this group is unforgiving.

Appreciating the trail for what it is...

Been riding close to home lately...mostly the Colt's Neck (Colvin Run/Difficult Run) loop. Dr.P (my riding buddy) and I have been getting back into the swing of things after taking some time off from riding and wanted to ride somewhere fast and familiar. The other day, we decided to head over to Fox Mill instead of Colt's Neck as we were getting bored of the same old trail.

The trouble is that we have gotten so used to the fast pace at Colt's Neck that we expected that same feeling at Fox Mill. Fox Mill is a trail that is meant to be explored. It is much more twisty then most of the trails in the area and there are only short sections which allow you to get up to full speed.

Traversing the Fairfax CCT; an "urban epic"

To ride the entire length of the more than 30 mile Fairfax Cross County Trail (CCT) anytime would be challenging, but riding it in the middle of December produced some additional difficulties. I was to meet DT (MORE's liason for the Colts Neck Trail in Reston), JoeP. (Wakefield liason), Randy Kerr (CCT liason), Gary Ryan, Lee Diehr, and Dan Hoke with the idea that we would ride the entire CCT and map it with our GPS systems. (I had never met any of these guys before, but DT had seen one of my posts on the CCT and invited me along. Thanks DT!)
