As I sit here, wishing that I had just returned from this year's Interbike with a camera full of booth babe pics, I reminisce over G-man's barking for the past year - "Get the Booth Babes up!" and ""Gwadzilla has been waiting almost a year for the announcement of the winner". [Correction: Gwadzilla has been waiting for exactly one year, today...sorry buddy]
I must get-on with the get-on and pony up to my purpose - to let the world know who was the hottest and coolest chick in the world of biking in 2006.
With good intentions and even better pictures over the previous year, I somehow managed to be even more tardy in posting the results of the 2006 GC Interbike Booth Babe (IBB) Clippy. What’s a “Clippy”? It’s the most prestigious bike blogger award in the world…the GC version of a Grammy. Each year, we’ll be identifying the leaders in categories such as:
- Coolest New Product
- Eco-friendliest
- Best Booth Presentation
- Most Enticing Advertisment
- Finest Ride
- And, of course, Hottest Interbike Booth Babe
Keep your eyes peeled for more Clippy announcements throughout the year and the annual Clippies Unclipped awards ceremony. But for now, read on to find out who we’ll be crowing in Vegas this year [, virtually]…
First off, many thanks to the almost 900 respondents who voted for the beautiful models - we received 3x more votes than last year. (and props to the Drunk Cyclist for steering the bike community our way:) If we continue on this trend, we’ve heading for four-full-figures next year. Woot!
Also, we must give all our love to the fun and adventurous ladies who make this contest possible every year. Without you, we’re just a cult of guys who wear tight pants; With you, we’re a bunch of guys in even tighter pants.
Now on to the results….
Is it surprising that the bike community has a penchant for chicks who ride? I mean, who can deny that woman on bike is hot!! It should then come as no surprise that our winners are all competitive cyclists from 3 different fields – road, mountain and tri - testament to the theory that no one style of riding produces better results.
This year we had a dead tie for second runner-up and ironically enough, both ladies come from the tri world. Looks like they’ll have to battle it out in their skin suits….and I’ll surely be in the front row for that one!! Check out how beautiful and toned these athletes are:
Here’s two pats-on-the-ass to Kristin (Descente) and Hannah (2XU). (two pats each ;)
What more can I say about our favorite runner-up. Angela Sucich remains sharp in the brain, her eyes still rivet and as long as she rides, mmm, those legs. At the risk of being redundant, I’ll point out her nice, big endorsement of Ride Clean. [I prefer a dirty ride, but whatever rolls your bike.] So, for her second year in a row, I proudly present Ms. Sucich, PhD.
The winner is a doll and no, I’m not talking about Geraldine but rather her master - Kerry Litka. She’s small, but big on great smiles and road wins. She ain’t no stranger to the podium. She’s got a following and a blog – www.kerrylitka.com. And now she’s got the title of Miss GoClipless 2006!! (Although I’m tempted to put Kerry in her own category - Ms. Lesbian Doll Lover 2006 – and give Angela the win. But our readers have spoken and it would be unjust to let them down.)
Kerry is so versatile, I could also call her the Babe Ruth of the IBBs – she pointed for the fence and caught the sweet spot. It is my pleasure to present you with the little big winner!! Congrats Kerry…now you’ve really got bragging rights J
As Graham stated, GC will sadly not be attending Interbike this year. As disappointing as this is to us and our readers, it is most disheartening to the ladies who have been waiting all year for an opportunity to catch the fancy of our lenses. So, to keep in the good graces of the bike industry we'll be conducting the '07 Booth Babe contest a liitle differently this year. I have assembled a GoClipless Booth in my home and will open my doors to any ladies who would like to do a photo shoot for a shot at Miss GC Booth Babe 2007. The only requirement is that you must have ridden a bike sometime in your life (proof not required). To schedule an appointment, email me at [email protected].
